Volume vs. Weight (The 0.86 Rule)
Water and melted wax do not weigh the same. Wax is lighter (less dense). If you fill a 10oz volume jar with water, it will only hold about 8.6oz of actual soy wax. We multiply your water weight by 0.86(Specific Gravity of Soy) to tell you exactly how many grams of flakes to melt.
Mastering Fragrance Load
Adding too much oil causes "sweating" (oil seeping out), while too little ruins the scent throw. Most soy waxes hold a 6% - 10% fragrance load.
Pro Tip: Precision matters. A digital kitchen scale is non-negotiable for consistent batches. Never measure by cups/spoons; always measure by weight (grams) to ensure your fragrance binds correctly.
Candle Making FAQs
Why do my candles have sinkholes?▼
Pouring too hot or cooling too fast causes shrinkage. Save a little wax for a "second pour" to top off the surface once the candle has cooled.
How long should I cure soy candles?▼
Patience pays off. Let your candles cure for at least 2 weeks. This allows the soy wax and fragrance oil to bind, resulting in a much stronger scent throw when burned.
